For the first time ever, I tried "celebrity hair" on New Year's Eve. You know the style. This "as seen on TV" curling rod found its way into my Christmas stocking (i.e. I bought it for myself), so I thought I should at least try it out. Surprisingly, it's not the easiest thing to master. I did an excellent job on the left side, then switching to the right side of my hair was like entering a foreign land. I had no idea how to maneuver my hands or the curling rod. Overall, waves were achieved, so it was a successful first attempt. Is this hairstyle in your repertoire? xo.

I definitely do this style too, but with a normal 1 inch clipless curling iron. One side always seems to come out better than the other for me too...it's so bizarre!

OH MY GOD I LOVE MY CURLING ROD!
ReplyDeleteBack when I dyed my hair blonde (ugh, disaster) I had to curl it every day because the ombe effect was more like BROWN AND THEN BLONDE with a pretty severe line, so curling helped break it up a bit. Then I sort of got addicted to wearing my hair curled (it's less boring, when you have looong hair), but it kept catching in the mechanics of the curling iron. A ceramic rod has been MARVELOUS. I've seriously converted all my friends to using them, too. My BFF wears her hair in super tight ringlets now, which is weird, but that's how crazy good these things work. You'll get the hang of it and you'll neer go back to your curling iron, I swear!
YES. My sister has one and it makes me sick. Will you do my hair for me?
ReplyDelete@Mal - It felt so weird switching to the other side, and literally thinking... uh... what the hell? How does this work again?! Ha! Glad to know it's not just me.
ReplyDelete@Nikki - So, you are A PROFESSIONAL at this?! Is there hope for me? I actually determined, mid-styling, that if I had shorter hair, it might be easier. Something like this.
@Bev - Of course! We can have an all-girls bunkin' party. I'll bring my fancy new curlin' rod, and somebody's gotta bring sponge rollers. Obvs. xo.
I've been doing this (nearly) every day since my sophomore year at college. At Hendrix, everyone called it "the Rosemary." Ha!
ReplyDeleteHa! "The Rosemary," love it!
ReplyDelete@nicole I am a PROFESSIONAL hair curler! this tutorial is a little vague but is a helpful visual. BFF watched youtube videos until she figured it out - it only took her one night!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nikki! Great tutorial by C&C, too! xo.
ReplyDeleteLove the curls with your bangs x
ReplyDeleteThank you! I feel so much more confident in trying this style again, after reading your tutorial! xo.
